How does a giant bronze bull statue made on commission for the park of the villa of a successful businessman known throughout Europe come to life?
Here is the story of this bronze sculpture large told directly by the master sculptor Vittorio Tessaro…
“Dealing with a theme that transmits force and disruptive energy to the onlooker can be relatively easy by choosing the right subject for a bronze sculpture of a bull.
However, it is not enough if you do not know anatomy first and do not have the technical skills to be able to animate it.
Mighty animals like the bull, together with the male and female nude, are subjects that have always inspired artists of all ages, and will continue to do so.
I have tackled the theme of the bronze bull statue several times, and each time it is as if it were the first.
A few years ago, a world-famous figure, whose name I will not mention out of confidentiality, invited me to his home to get to know me as an artist and commission me to make a giant bronze sculpture of a bull for the garden of his villa.
When he asked me to make him a statue of an enraged bull, my heart leapt as I was excited to be able to try my hand at one of my favourite themes:
quivering muscles, dynamism, a sense of movement, natural strength and muscle masses duly emphasised, “pure energy”!
The joy I feel in seeking, chasing and applying myself to all this is something extremely exhilarating that I am incredibly passionate about.
While this entrepreneur was speaking, I already “saw” this large bronze sculpture of an enraged bull finished and placed in the park of his villa, in all its majesty, in the middle of the garden, facing the lake.
And then it just needed to be made concrete…

The long and complex work lasted several months and first involved the construction of an internal structure in iron and steel, as a kind of metal support skeleton the clay could grip to and where it could be modelled.
Once the statue is finished, it is necessary to make a gelatine mould to obtain the wax. It must be hollow inside on and, after it has been worked, another mould must be made of it, this time refractory.
The mould must have very big walls and must be buried in a pit with sand and refractory earth pressed to withstand the enormous heat of the molten bronze, otherwise the mould will inevitably break, allowing the burning liquid to escape resulting in the complete and dramatic loss of the artwork.
Moreover, the weight of such a large bronze bull means extreme attention is required to be able to fix such an imposing work to the base, care has to be taken over its shipment…
… As it should be, in all the arts, the viewer looks at and enjoys the final result without having a remotely idea of how many difficulties are involved in the artist’s efforts and everything that goes around it.
Art is love and hate, passion and torment, happiness and dismay, “labour and birth”.
But as we know, the difficulties are part of this work that I love with all my heart as an artist sculptor… and the satisfaction I saw in the eyes of the client at the time of delivery repaid all the efforts I made to create this large bronze bull sculpture.”

On a whim , I decided to do research on sculptures of beautiful women.
For weeks I was reading on sculptors from all over the world. Then I chanced upon the works of Vittorio and I fell in love with his bronze sculptures.
